Inside the Dark
(a) As the assignment requires, my game is autobiographical. The moment I chose for this game was more or less the moment when I met someone very important in my life. That also coupled with the idea to also capture the essence of childhood fear of the dark, and the feeling of being vulnerable, as any scared child would feel. I originally wasn't going to with the fear aspect, but at the suggestion of a playtester, I figured it would mesh very well with the exploration mechanic of the game. In a way, this figure more or less served as protection from these childhood fears, and after their introduction, it cast away the dark scariness felt as a child.
(b) The funnest thing to do would probably be the 3D modeling, and the experimenting with rendering done towards the end. It was very fun to test out the features I could put in the game to add to the aesthetic, lighting and music changes were very fun to play with, while the least fun thing to do was build all the walls, it took a lot of meticulous work to keep the walls all the same width and make sure they were aligned enough. The easiest thing to do was perhaps the coding of the lighting effects, a lot easier than I expected, thankfully. The hardest thing to do was to settle on a music choice for the final product in such short amount. I'm still not too happy with the music in the final build, but I knew it would not be wise to spend so much time on it.
